I carved Horace from a 37 pound block of limestone, one of several stones given to me by a kind neighbour who visited my Open Studio in 2016.  I do not know what type of limestone it is, only that it is coarse-grained and contains a fair number of  small  fossils and shells.

Humphrey is carved on one side of the stone while the other side, the rear, is left untouched.

He measures  about 9.5 inches high. 12.5 inches long  & 5 inches wide, and weighs about 29 pounds.
